    My father Carlton L Williams worked as a welder in Kaisers shipyard #3 in Oakland Cal. from 1943-1944, the same shipyard the Gen. G.O. Bliss was built. In late1944 he joined the and served in Germany. After recouping from wounds he received while serving In 1945 he was shipped home to dock in Boston in 1945 on this same troop carrier, Gen Bliss
