    Several years ago I visited what is now the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town. The Union Castle office is still there as are the warehouses which once served the Cape Boats and their passengers. One could almost feel the stevedores of old rubbing shoulders with the shopkeepers and restaurant staff who now occupy the halls. Was I imagining things when a white and plum painted ship appeared over the horizon?
