No.1591 Laid down as the Diamond Princess, floated out 2002 (as the Sapphire Princess)

115,875GT Princess Cruises by Mitsubishi, Nagasaki

Renamed after a fire & entered service as the Sapphire Princess in 2004 for Princess Cruises IMO: 9228186

The name swap occurred because a major fire swept through the ship during construction, leading to a delay. Both sister ships were being constructed at the same time, so the original Sapphire assumed the role of Diamond. This name swap assisted in keeping the delivery date of Diamond Princess on time.
