The success of Flavia’s Caribbean cruises prompted Costa Line to seek a second ship. They chartered the Norwegian America liner Oslofjord of 1949. The charter began in 1969, when the renamed Fulvia joined Federico C and Flavia on Caribbean cruises. She retained Norwegian flag and crew. She caught fire near the Canaries in July 1970, and subsequently sank, all passengers and crew having been saved by the Ancerville.
An explosion in the engine room had set her on fire off Teneriffe, but the passengers and crew escaped in the lifeboats.
The burning ship was taken in tow for Teneriffe, but sank in a position 29.57N, 16.30 W.
